Finnish power metal pioneers SONATA ARCTICA have released a brand new single titled “Freedom Concept”. The song comes as a strong statement for the band’s 30th anniversary, followed by an extensive tour, which will also include a performance at the 6th ewdition of the international rock-metal festival ROCK CASTLE 2026 in MORAVSKÝ KRUMLOV in mid-August! The new single offers the melodic intensity and energy that fans have come to expect and love from this band.

“Freedom Concept” captures the signature blend of captivating melodies, energetic rhythms and emotional depth that has defined SONATA ARCTICA for three decades. At the same time, the song explores a thoughtful and timely theme: the complex idea of freedom and the responsibility that comes with it.

SONATA ARCTICA frontman Tony Kakko says: “‘Freedom Concept’ is a song about understanding and misunderstanding the concept of freedom. About how it’s often forgotten that it comes with responsibility, and how whatever values and ideas you may have are not automatically passed on to your descendants, and how in most cases that’s a damn good thing…this concept has been on my desk for a while now and we thought this kind of melodic power metal explosion would be a good way to celebrate the 30th anniversary! We’re working on our next studio album, but this song will NOT be on it. So… an extra special snack between meals. Enjoy!”
